Gala Fund Raiser a Success!

Summer Extravaganza 2011

As the evening breezes swept the Dodwell House courtyard over twenty volunteers gathered in anticipation of an evening dedicated to raising funds for Dodwell House. Jackie Clarkson, City Council President commended the work to be done, Councilwoman Palmer acknowledged the diversity of the event and attendees; Pastor Norwood Thompson prayed and recalled the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s vision and Bishop James Brown reminded us of the life and ministry of The Rev. Bob Dodwell. The Iguana’s played, the food was wonderful with principal donations from Tiger’s Creole Cuisine, NOSH, Lil Dizzy’s, Bywater Bar-b-que, and Dokey Chase’s. We took in over $25,000 in donations and sales. We hosted over 110 guests and rejoiced in future possibilities. This is the first but certainly not the last Dodwell House Extravaganza. Again, a special thanks to dreamers Mike McDonald and Sean McLoughlin. “Well done good and faithful servants!”
